Plant and Equipment Insurance

A machine is three exposures at once: the cost to repair or replace it, the damage it can do to property and people, and the income it stops earning the day it breaks down. Plant and equipment cover answers all three, and we place it whether the machine is owned, financed or on dry hire.

Cover

What plant and equipment insurance covers

The machine itself

Excavators, loaders, attachments and gear against accidental damage, theft, fire and breakdown, owned or hired in, at a proper replacement value.

What it damages

Liability for property damage and injury the machine causes — a strike, a drop, an incident on site — placed at the limit your work requires.

Lost income when it stops

The revenue a key machine earns is lost the moment it's down. Cover for that interruption is what keeps a breakdown from becoming a cash problem.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

What does plant and equipment insurance cover?
Three things: the machine against damage, theft and breakdown; liability for what the machine damages; and the income lost while it's out of service. We build the mix around your machines and how central they are to earning.
Is machinery covered if it's on dry hire?
It can be, but dry hire changes who carries the risk, so it needs to be arranged deliberately — both for the machine and the liability while someone else operates it. We make sure the hire arrangement is on the policy.
Does it cover breakdown, or just accidents?
Good plant cover includes mechanical and electrical breakdown, not just accidental damage — which matters, because breakdown is what most often stops a machine earning. We check the policy responds to both.
