What can be included

One policy, built section by section.

Stonewell is a brokerage, not an insurer, so what follows is what we can place rather than what one company happens to sell. Personal and commercial, straightforward and awkward — the awkward ones are most of what we do.

Business Insurance

A package built around the work: property, contents and stock, glass, theft, and the interruption cover that keeps paying the bills while you are shut. Assembled from a panel rather than taken off one insurer's shelf.

Learn more

Public & Products Liability

Injury or damage caused by your work or your product, plus the cost of defending it. The cover clients, landlords and principals ask to see before you start, usually at a limit their contract names.

Learn more

Professional Indemnity

For advice, design and services: a claim that your work caused a client financial loss. Distinct from public liability, and the two are not interchangeable no matter how a contract words it.

Learn more

Commercial Property

Buildings, contents and fit-out insured at what it costs to rebuild today, not market value. For landlords, loss of rent; for occupiers, business interruption.

Learn more

Commercial Motor & Fleet

Utes, vans, trucks and fleets rated on how the vehicle is actually used. A private-car policy priced on a commuter assumption is the most common way a work vehicle ends up uninsured at the wrong moment.

Learn more

Home, Contents & Landlord

Personal lines placed by a broker rather than a call centre, including rental properties, tenant damage and the risks a direct insurer prices badly or declines on a tick box.

Learn more

Farm & Rural

The homestead, sheds, machinery, livestock, crops and farm liability, written by people who understand that a farm's cash cycle and its risk cycle are the same thing.

Learn more

Personal Accident & Illness

Income support when an injury or illness stops you working. For sole traders and contractors, where workers compensation does not reach and a mortgage does not pause.

Why use a broker

A broker in your corner, or on your own.

Buying direct means facing the insurer alone — most of all at claim time. Here's what changes when Stonewell is on your side.

What you getUsDirect
A personal broker who knows your business
One expert contact — not a call-centre queue and a customer number.
Claims advocacy
We fight for your outcome at claim time. Direct insurers assess their own claims.
Advice tailored to your risk
Cover built around your actual exposures — not a one-size-fits-all product.
Access to multiple insurers
We compare many insurers, including broker-only insurers you can't buy from directly.
Fast turnaround
Same-day quotes and certificates of currency, often within the hour.
Ongoing support all year
Mid-term changes, new contracts, certificates and questions — handled, not queued.
Professional risk advice
Underinsurance checks, contract reviews and risk guidance as part of the service.
Annual reviews
Renewals re-checked and re-marketed. Loyalty shouldn't cost you more.
How it works

02

We compare

03

You're covered

We confirm the details and arrange the cover, with your certificate of currency issued during business hours.

FAQ

Common questions.

Can't see your question? Send us your current schedule and we'll tell you what it actually covers.

Speak with our team on 1300 080 323.

What does an insurance broker actually do?
We work for you, not for an insurer. That means putting your risk in front of a panel of insurers rather than one, arguing the wording rather than accepting the default, and handling the claim when it comes. The insurer pays us a commission out of the premium, which is disclosed, so for most clients there is no separate fee.
Is going through a broker more expensive than buying direct?
Usually not, and often the reverse. We are quoting the same insurers, and an underwriter will price a risk they understand more sharply than an online form will. Where a broker costs more is where the direct policy was cheaper because it covered less — which is only a saving until you claim.
Are you an insurer?
No. Stonewell Insurance Pty Ltd is a Corporate Authorised Representative (No. 1285612) of McLardy McShane Partners Pty Ltd, AFSL 232987. We arrange and service cover; the insurer carries the risk and pays the claim.
What happens when I need to claim?
You call us, not a hotline. Our own team lodges it, briefs the assessor and pushes for a fair outcome, which is the part of this job that decides whether the premium was worth paying. Claims are handled in-house in Australia.
Do you only cover businesses?
No. We write personal lines too — home and contents, landlord, motor — alongside business, farm, strata and specialty. Many clients start with one and end up placing both through us, because it is the same conversation.
My risk was declined or loaded. Can you still help?
Often, yes. Declines from direct insurers are frequently the result of a tick box rather than an assessment: a disclosed conviction, an unusual occupation, a prior claim, a construction type. Placing those is a large part of what a broker is for.
How much cover do I need?
For liability, whatever your contracts require, which is commonly $10M or $20M and is worth checking rather than assuming. For property, the cost to rebuild today rather than market value or purchase price. Getting that second number wrong is the most common and most expensive mistake we see.
Where are you based, and do you only work locally?
We are on the Gold Coast and licensed to place cover anywhere in Australia. Location matters for some risks — cyclone, flood and bushfire zones change both price and availability — and for everything else what matters is who picks up when you call.
How long does it take to get cover in place?
Straightforward risks are often same-day. Anything that needs an underwriter to look at it properly takes longer, and we would rather tell you that than rush a placement you will regret. If you have a settlement or a contract deadline, say so and we will work to it.
What do you need from me to quote?
Enough to describe the risk honestly: what the business does or what the property is, roughly what it is worth, where it is, and anything an insurer would consider unusual. Sixty seconds online is enough to start; the detail comes on the call.
Can you review the cover I already have?
Yes, and it costs nothing. Send the current schedule and we will tell you plainly where it is short, where it is over-insured, and where the wording will not do what you think. Sometimes the answer is that your existing cover is fine.
Do you take a fee for advice?
Our remuneration is disclosed before anything is bound, in the Financial Services Guide and in the quote itself. In most cases it is commission paid by the insurer out of the premium rather than a fee charged to you.
