Security Company Insurance

Security work has one exposure standard policies quietly exclude: use of force. When a guard restrains or ejects someone and a claim follows, an assault-and-battery exclusion can leave you paying it yourself. We place cover that includes physical intervention, so the everyday reality of the job is actually covered.

What security insurance covers

Liability with use-of-force cover

Crowd control, restraint and ejection are core to the job and a common exclusion. We arrange liability that includes assault and battery / use of force, at the $10m–$20m limits venues and clients require.

Professional indemnity

For claims that you failed to perform a contracted security duty — a missed patrol, a breach that got through. Distinct from public liability, and increasingly named in contracts.

Crowd control, events & static guards

Licensed crowd controllers, event security and static guarding each carry a different risk profile — we place cover that matches the actual work rather than a one-size policy.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

Does security insurance cover use of force?
Only if it's specifically included — many public liability policies exclude assault and battery, which is exactly what crowd control and restraint involve. We place cover with use-of-force included so a restraint claim isn't declined.
How much public liability does a security company need?
$10 million to $20 million is typical, and large venues or high-security sites often require $20m as a condition of the contract. We match the limit to what your clients name before you're on site.
Do I need professional indemnity as well as public liability?
Increasingly, yes — public liability covers injury and damage, while professional indemnity covers claims that you failed to deliver a contracted duty. Many security contracts now name both, and we can place them together.
