Personal Trainer & Fitness Insurance

Training people means injury risk sits at the centre of the job — a client hurt on equipment, an exercise that aggravates a condition, advice that's later blamed for a strain. We place public liability and professional indemnity that respond to both the accident and the 'you shouldn't have programmed that' claim.

Cover

What personal trainers insurance covers

Public liability

For a client or bystander injured while training — a dropped weight, a trip, equipment failure. The cover gyms and councils require before you can operate on their floor or in their park.

Professional indemnity

For claims that your program, advice or technique caused harm. It's the cover specific to what a trainer actually does, and standard liability alone doesn't answer it.

Mobile, in-gym & online

Whether you train in a gym, in parks, in homes or online, the exposure differs — we make sure where and how you work is on the policy, including online coaching.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

What insurance does a personal trainer need in Australia?
Public liability and professional indemnity are the two that matter — one for injuries during a session, the other for claims that your advice or programming caused harm. Gyms and councils usually require public liability before you can operate.
Does the gym's insurance cover me as a trainer?
Generally no — the gym's policy protects the gym, not you as an independent trainer, and many require you to hold your own cover. If you rent floor space or train off-site, you need your own.
Am I covered training clients online?
You can be, but online coaching needs to be disclosed — it's a different exposure to in-person sessions and shouldn't be assumed. We make sure the way you actually deliver is written into the policy.
