Hair & Beauty Salon Insurance

Hair and beauty work puts you in close, hands-on contact with clients and chemicals — a reaction to a colour, a burn from a wax or a tool, a slip in the salon. We place public and treatment liability alongside cover for your fit-out and stock, whether you own the salon, rent a chair or work mobile.

What hair & beauty insurance covers

Public & treatment liability

For injury or a reaction from a service — chemical burns, allergic reactions, a nick, a slip. Treatment liability is the part generic policies miss, and it's the one hair and beauty claims turn on.

Salon contents, stock & fit-out

Your chairs, equipment, retail stock and fit-out against fire, theft and damage, plus loss of income if you can't trade. The cover that gets you back open, not just defended.

Chair renters & mobile operators

Renting a chair or working mobile? The salon's policy won't cover you as an independent operator. We place cover in your own name so you're not exposed on someone else's insurance.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

FAQ

Hair & beauty insurance questions.

Speak with our team on 1300 080 323.

What insurance does a hairdresser or beauty salon need?
Public liability and treatment liability are the core — one for general injury, the other for a reaction or injury from a service — plus contents and stock cover if you have a salon. We build it around whether you own, rent a chair or work mobile.
If I rent a chair, am I covered by the salon's insurance?
Usually not — the salon owner's policy protects them, not you as an independent operator, and a client's claim would come to you. Renters and mobile operators need cover in their own name.
Does salon insurance cover allergic reactions to treatments?
That's what treatment liability is for — reactions to colours, chemicals and products are a leading claim, and standard public liability can exclude them. We make sure treatment risk is specifically covered.
