Cleaning Business Insurance

Cleaning is trusted-access work — you're in other people's homes, offices and stock, often with keys and alarm codes. A knocked-over fitting, a chemical mark on a floor or a slip on a wet surface is the everyday claim, and most commercial contracts won't let you start without cover.

Cover

What cleaners insurance covers

Public liability

For injury or damage while you work — a client slipping on a wet floor, a chemical burn, a broken fitting. We place the $5m–$20m limit your commercial contracts specify before you can start.

Damage to the property you're working on

The floor you're cleaning, the office you're in — 'property in your care' is a common gap that leaves your biggest exposure uncovered. We make sure the premises you work on are actually on the policy.

Equipment, stock & staff

Scrubbers, vacuums and steamers against theft and damage, plus workers compensation once you have staff. We build the cover to fit whether you're a sole operator or running crews.

Cover, limits and examples shown are general in nature and subject to eligibility, underwriting and the terms of the issued policy.

FAQ

Cleaners insurance questions.

Speak with our team on 1300 080 323.

Do cleaners need public liability insurance?
In practice, yes — most commercial cleaning contracts require it before you can start, commonly $5m, $10m or $20m, and it protects you if you damage a client's property or someone is injured. We place the limit your contracts name.
Does cleaning insurance cover damage to the property I'm cleaning?
Only if 'property in your care, custody or control' is included — and it's often excluded, which leaves your most likely claim uncovered. We check for that gap and place cover that includes the premises you work on.
I rent, or I'm a sole cleaner — do I still need my own cover?
Yes. You can't rely on the building owner's or agency's policy to protect you, and contracts name you specifically. Sole-operator cover is inexpensive, and it's what lets you take on commercial work.
