A few things before you start — they protect your claim.

  • Don't dispose of or repair the damaged goods until the insurer approves — keep them and their packaging for inspection.
  • Report theft or missing goods to police and get an event / report number.
  • Gather your transit documents — consignment note / connote, delivery docket, bill of lading or airway bill, the goods owner's invoice, and photos.
